How can one not kill themselves in the advent of the cataclysm that AI will provide ?
Namely what we can do :
1) Fighting the capitalist system using this tool to the advantage of the ruling class which will a) slowly replace simple task jobs b) in the meantime propose an illusion of help to skilled workers for perfoming their tasks but c) incentivize competiton and inequality amongst workers
2) Use AI for the benefit of humanity by regulating it i.e removing the grasp of capitalism on its use and development
The turnkey is this : the thing AI can’t do, or that humans can’t allow AI to do
1) Creativity — Based on an Oxford research, the job of a writer is presumed to become spoiled only beyond 2050
2) Strategizing, giving insights and taking decisions upon these
But to be truthful AI will be able to do it, not in the same metaphysical framework and understanding that we think. Because AI is a science fiction term. It is only a deep learning algorithm, which can be a language model as for ChatGPT or an image to text blablabla
If so yes, because it renders humans as commodities not only alienated by society and their work, but by the tools with which they work.
AI is a means of production, just like a machine that makes batteries in a taiwan factory. The means of production that is AI is completely accaparated by the ruling class, and its complex functioning totally anihilates the rest of humanity we have, and converts us into objects. Human Praxis becomes totally obsolete.
The issue isn’t AI. Because some people provide it open-source like our friend Emad Mostaque. Which in a adequate society framework would be totally anarchist, communist or whatever term you’d like. The issue is the people owning the AI’s framework, and how they use it.
But as for proletarians IN the developed world, they will keep making cool open source decentralized and democratized stuff but with no revolution it will remain marginal stuff
Micro-credit institutions started as a revolutionary means of finance despite it evolving inside of a crooked system. Now you see it at every corner in Lomé and people get scammed.
Everything becomes pourri à la fin dans ce système unless tu le renverse
But his formula should be widely adopted as the counter attack against how AI is advocated by the ruling class today.
Coding your little program in your basement and le balancer sur ton site that’s cool but then what ? You have pure gold in your hands.
To be honest I believe most of what AI is in the market today is stuff like Mostaque, but they’re not unified as a counter proposition as I mentioned. because they follow the new philosophical ideology of Decentralization. And Decentralization is not a means. It is a goal. You don’t make a revolution with everybody decentralized. You need a clear Centralized power to rival. Just like how the BRICS are reforming from its pieces.
Centralized system like in the Soviet Union was a means to attain Decentralization. Maybe bureaucrats rubbed their hands and dwelled on it because it gave them power. It should be used with light hands and consideration only for a means to counter attack. If all proletarians united into a centralized internationale the likes of Elon musk would litteraly shit their pants. But they know they fragmented us already as you said.
